Job Description

The Department of Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy, and Statistics at the University of St. Louis - Missouri invites applications for the full-time non-tenure track position of Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematics to begin Fall 2022. The primary role in this position will be teaching with a focus on introductory mathematics courses, including but not limited to courses in quantitative reasoning, statistics, algebra, trigonometry, and calculus.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Our teaching faculty typically teach both in-person and online courses for a total of 12 credit hours per semester with a workload distribution of 80% teaching and 20% service. As a part of this service, teaching faculty often act as a course coordinator, providing leadership to graduate teaching assistants and adjunct faculty and overseeing instruction of a course.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
A Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline.
A strong proven commitment to teaching and mentoring students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferences will be given to candidates with evidence of successful teaching of introductory mathematics courses at the junior college or university level.

Preferences will be given to candidates with knowledge of research-informed teaching and learning strategies.

Candidates must prepare a letter of application, statement of teaching philosophy, transcripts, and current vita which lists detailed teaching experience, including courses taught and teaching evaluations from previous institutes, if available.
