Position Title Youth Sports Camp Coach The Opportunity

Being a coach for the Mines Youth Sports Camp (YSC) is a highly sought after position. It is a great way to interact and to share your passion for sports, group activities, and skill development with an amazing group of children. Each day you will work in groups of 3 coaches to teach basic and intermediate skills, team sport rules, and simply to model and teach camaraderie in a great setting. Being a coach is a high energy, and sometimes intense job. We will work to train you in game theory, working with children, and adapting activity skills to the student’s level of play. There are four weeks of YSC and our hope is to see you become a better coach throughout each week of the camp experience.

June 13-17, 2022

June 20-24, 2022

July 5-8, 2022

July 11-15, 2022

Responsibilities
  • Previous experience tutoring or coaching children is strongly preferred.
  • Coaches will be responsible for the safety and supervision of up to 25 campers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Applicants should have a basic knowledge of basketball, soccer, broomball/hockey, baseball and group initiatives.
  • Applicants must demonstrate good judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Applicants should be positive and enthusiastic role models for campers and must be able to work in teams.
  • Additionally, applicants should feel comfortable explaining and enforcing camp rules as well as managing conflict.
  • Applicants should demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and be excellent at communicating with staff, campers and parents.
  • Camp Coaches will be required to take an active role in staff trainings, staff meetings and each and every day of camp.
  • Coaches must be open to performance based feedback.
  • Coaches will be required to know and follow all camp policies and procedures including emergency action plans.
  • Coaches will be required to act as first responders in the case of an emergency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Coaches must be certified in CPR and first aid when camp begins – training will be provided at no cost.
**Applicants must be available to work at least three weeks of camp and attend one paid training session.**

**Coaches must be 18 years of age before camp begins** Preferred Qualifications
  • Athletic experience preferred. Availability to work all four weeks.

Pay Range $13.50-$18.00 per hour
