The W. P. Carey School Technology Strategy and Operations (TSO)
team is a unique collective of analysts and technologists whose
purpose is to advance EduTech for the School in partnership with
faculty, researchers, staff and our enterprise partners throughout
ASU. We build trustworthy partnerships, innovative and
sustainable technology solutions, and expand technical proficiency
throughout the school as W. P. Carey and its partners continue to
grow. The TSO team plays a key role in proactively furthering the
academic, research, and community missions of ASU.
We are looking for a Systems Analyst Sr. As a member of the
Systems Analyst team, the System Analyst Sr. performs
professional-level work in the design, development, implementation,
operation and maintenance of computer and business systems
throughout the School. The successful candidate is
comfortable in a collaborative environment partnering with Business
Analysts and enterprise partners in the development and deployment
of technology solutions. They have documented success in
deploying solutions responsive to the need that are scalable and
sustainable. As a contributing member of the Academic
Instruction and Academic Research product teams, will primarily
work on projects to launch academic course offerings in AWS,
Citrix, AppStream on a semester by semester basis, deploy servers
for research by partnering with our enterprise research office, and
designing proactive systems to manage technology associated with
research and instruction.
Essential Duties
The Academic Instruction Product Team is
responsible for efforts focused on everything related to the
delivery of instruction from hardware in classrooms to preparation
of content which can range from multimedia outputs to cloud (AWS)
technical solution used by the students in their course work.
The Academic Research Product Team is
responsible for efforts focused on deployment and support of the
tools needed for academic research and grants.
Within these product teams the successful candidate:
- Performs the design, development, implementation, operation and maintenance of computer and business systems to meets user needs
- Uses applications software such as distributed network systems, database management systems, Web page development tools, desktop publishing tools, and presentation tools to meet user needs
- Coordinates with other information technology organizations including the central IT organization to ensure optimal use and efficiency of computer and related resources
- Collaborates and teams with others on a variety of technology and technology support projects
- Develops and improves user systems procedures, and prepares systems documentation
- In the review of existing systems and processes, applies the techniques and principles of process and procedure reengineering in the design and development of new systems and process
- Establishes and maintains effective communications with customers, other technology specialists, and vendors about services
- Assists in the development of long-range goals and short-range objectives
- Writes and/or updates detailed user documentation and manuals for operational applications, including data flow illustrations; distributes or arranges distribution of system documentation
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field AND four (4) years experience providing information technology services; OR, Eight (8) years experience providing related information technology services, OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months of experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with computer programming languages (SQL, PHP, Python, PowerShell, HTML5, and/or Bash, ColdFusion)
- Experience with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud platforms. Certification in AWS is preferred
- Knowledge of AWS, cloud networking concepts such as Virtual Private Clouds, Security Groups, Routing Tables, Subnets and Internet Gateways
- Experience of principles of Infrastructure as code, CICD, and version control tools (Git, Jenkins, Terraform)
- Experience managing and supporting servers (virtual, physical, cloud based) throughout the life cycle from deployment to end of life
- Experience managing a computing environment including various types of endpoints, security administration, and application deployment methods
- Experience of database concepts (MySQL, Postgres)
- Experience of database management tools and applications
Working Environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking; frequent physical demands may include stooping, bending, crawling under/around objects, reaching, lifting and pushing objects of varying weights up to 50 pounds; regularly required to work in cramped and enclosed areas and exposure to variations in temperature when deploying equipment.
