Term Faculty Position In General Management (full-time contract)

The Management Department at the Kogod School of Business, American University, invites applications and nominations for term faculty appointments in Management, available beginning Fall semester 2022. The appointee will be expected to teach and provide instructional leadership at the undergraduate and graduate levels on topics such as strategy, organizational behavior, ethics, and sustainability. The position is conditional on final authorization. We welcome applications from scholarly and other professional backgrounds in line with the position needs. Preferred candidates will have (1) earned graduate or terminal degree from a nationally-accredited institution in Business Management or other relevant fields, with an emphasis in organizational behavior, human resource management, or strategy; (2) university-level teaching experience in management or related areas; (3) curricular and program development experience; 4) collegiality, good citizenship, and commitment to serve the school. We are especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service will contribute to the diversity and excellence of Kogod’s academic reputation.

Essential qualifications include:

• Ph.D., MBA, JD, or related graduate or terminal degree in disciplines related to management, organizational behavior, strategy, or a closely related field
• Strong commitment to high-quality pedagogy, including currency in teaching content, methods, and instructional technology
• Potential for effective teaching at all levels
• Demonstrated collegiality, good citizenship, and professional background

Responsibilities include:

• High quality undergraduate and graduate teaching
• Familiarity with the scholarly basis of pedagogy and the content of the teaching areas
• Participation in department, school, university, and professional activities
