Student Conduct Coordinator

Student Housing works to create spaces where students thrive and connect and through the lens of the ALL Living and Learning and curricular approach, UHRL takes a particular and deliberate approach to designing and delivering intentional learning opportunities. As a result of living on campus, residents will become engaged community members who are socially, culturally, and personally responsible.
We Are Looking For:
The Student
Conduct Coordinator works independently in managing conduct
cases in Undergraduate Student Housing; including interpretation of
policies, investigating incidents, and the adjudicating and
processing all assigned conduct cases. The Housing Conduct Officer
develops and leads trainings for housing staff on incident report
writing, Advocate (judicial database) use and policies. Frequently
communicates with campus partners such as the Office of Academic
Integrity & Student Conduct, UCI PD, Respondent Services,
Campus Social Worker, CARE, and OEOD regarding cases and
investigations. Develops and demonstrates cultural competencies to
foster inclusive excellence in the undergraduate residential
communities. Fosters an environment that supports and promotes a
learning-centered and resident focused organization. Serves on
departmental and campus committees.
What You Will Bring to This Position:
- 2 - 3 years of experience working in a college residential environment.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Basic knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
- Knowledge of University processes and procedures. Understanding of University rules and regulations.
- Interpersonal and cultural competence skills to effectively communicate with and support a wide variety of people of diverse backgrounds, including understanding and respect for cultural, ethnic and individual differences.
- Skills in active listening, critical thinking, negotiation, problem solving, reasoning, organizing, written and verbal communication; multitasking and intercultural competence.
- Ability to compose reports, letters, instructions, and other documents with attention to clarity, tone, composition, and mechanics.
- Ability to multi-task, verbal communication, written communication and organization skills. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively in group/team settings. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to respond with flexibility and efficiency to frequent changes in task focus, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and to follow through on assignments with minimal supervision. Skill in taking initiative, setting priorities, and managing time to complete work in a timely manner.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, tact, diplomacy and professionalism
- Skill in programming educational and social activities for students.
