POSITION SUMMARY : The APP with genetics experience comprehensively plans for genetic counseling of targeted pediatric patient populations. The APP has knowledge of genetic principles and a wide working knowledge of genetically inherited diseases. The APP possesses interpersonal skills that allow one to obtain family histories and interpret these findings. This Advanced Practice Professional has the ability to work with patients and their families in highly stressful and emotional situations. Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary care team to facilitate achievement of desired treatment outcomes. The APP serves as a patient advocate and counselor, perform psychological assessments, refer patients and families to medical and social resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR NURSE PRACTITIONER :

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.

National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.

Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.

American Heart Association BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the

department.

FNP certification required.

EXPERIENCE:

Pediatrics or genetics experience preferred.

Eligible new graduates will be considered.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT :

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree as a Medical/Surgical (as applicable) Physician Assistant required.

Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant (PA) training program required.

Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants required.

Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the WV Board of Medicine or WV Board of Osteopathic Medicine.

American Heart Association BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the

department.

EXPERIENCE:

Pediatrics or genetics experience preferred.

Eligible new graduates will be considered.

Provide healthcare services consistent with state law and the requirements of the professional licensing or certification authority and/or hospital privileges, where applicable. Such service may include, but are not limited to.
