Job Details

The Departments of Religion and African and African American Studies at Dartmouth College invite applications for a Lecturer in African American Religions. We seek qualified candidates whose academic specialization lies in Religion, African American Studies, or a related academic discipline. Applicants should be grounded in both theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of religion and African American life in any historical period or contemporary context.

 

This appointment is full-time, non-tenure-track, and benefits-eligible. The initial term is one year for the academic year 2022-23, with possibility of renewal for a second year. The person in this position will teach across Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters, with the option to teach either four courses (with prorated benefits) or five courses (with full benefits). The courses will be offered in Religion, in African and African American Studies, and/or cross-listed between the two units.

Qualifications

 

PhD, or ABD, in Religion, African American Studies, or a closely related field by the time of appointment, along with a record of outstanding scholarship and effective teaching. The appointment can begin any time between July 1 and September 1, 2022.
