Adjunct Faculty - Exercise Science



Aurora University seeks talented adjunct faculty who are passionate about teaching and learning. Adjunct faculty are qualified part-time instructors offered teaching opportunities based on course demand and staffing.

Job Summary/Basic Function

The School of Health Science at Aurora University seeks adjunct faculty for the Fall 2022 semester. Qualified candidates must possess the academic credentials to teach in Aurora University’s Exercise Science program in the following areas of interest:
  • Exercise Physiology
  • Kinesiology
  • Sport Psychology
Teaching Responsibilities
  • Teach material from approved curriculum in accordance with assigned schedule to ensure student satisfaction.
  • Teaching responsibilities will include preparing and disseminating weekly announcements, communicating with students via e-mails, preparing course videos, moderating discussion board forums, and grading weekly.
  • Assist students in achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Provide regular and timely feedback to students, e.g. respond to emails within 24 hours and will grade student’s assignments, giving substantive feedback, within 5-6 days of the assignment submission.
  • Participate in school retention initiatives by maintaining contact with students and offers assistance to absent students.
  • Advise students in matters related to academics and attendance.
  • Motivate students to actively participate in all aspect of the educational process.
  • The adjunct will also carry out administrative responsibilities as directed by their Department Chair, e.g. maintain and report student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies, timely submission of final grades, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a Health Science related field (Exercise Science, Kinesiology, etc.) – Doctorate preferred.
  • Teaching experience at the Higher Education level of 3 years or professional experience within the health and wellness field of 3 years.
  • Knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm toward serving a diverse student population.
Work Hours: Part-Time
