Job Description:
We are looking for an Assistant Director of Residence Life to join our team! The Assistant Director also serves as the Area Coordinator of Upper-Class Residence Halls. Responsibilities include facilitating a living and learning environment that is conducive to the personal development and academic achievement of all residents. This is a full time, live-in position. The Assistant Director/Area Coordinator will oversee all the programs, professional and paraprofessional staff, and operations of the upper-class residence halls. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the overall operation of Residence Life.
Job Duties:
- Provide leadership of a upper class residence area (Adams Hall, Bourret Hall, Dean Hall, Franklin Commons, Woodward Hall, Mitchell House, and Clark House) including supervision of building Resident Directors (FT& PT) and indirect supervision of all Community Advisors.
- Manage oversight of a residential area and its operations, ensuring buildings are ready for opening, semester break closing, managing facilities concerns and accessing student concerns.
- Work with all areas of housing operations including software management, student housing assignment, room selection process, room changes, key management, and opening/closing procedures.
- Oversee summer residence life occupancy which includes summer camps and conferences.
- Oversee Community Advisor upper-class programming model including but not limited to, program tracking, presence tracking and model updates in conjunction with Dean Career Advantage (Model will stay consistent among first year and returning buildings- learning goals will differ).
- Represent the residence life area to many constituents including personnel from offices/departments on campus, prospective students and their parents, representatives of camp/conference groups
- Help residents to become familiar with and adhere to college rules and regulations set forth in the Housing Agreement, Student Code of Conduct and help them realize the consequences of their behavior.
- Assist with departmental projects and initiatives as assigned by the Director of Residence Life including direct management of the Office of Residence Life large scale programming efforts.
- Serve as a Hearing Officer for high level conduct hearing, including serving as a Title IX investigator.
- Participate in the Administer on call schedule (AOC)
- Serve as a Resident Director of a upperclassman building (Horne Hall)
- Fostering a sense of community by establishing common goals and values.
- Organize and coordinate educational and social programs for building.
- Communicating regularly with residents through individual interaction and community meetings.
- Supervise Community Advisor Staff living in assigned residence halls.
- Assist with the opening and closing of the residence halls at semester breaks and all vacation/break periods.
- Confronting and documenting inappropriate behavior by residents.
- Work with individual students or groups regarding personal issues and make appropriate referrals.
- Demonstrate commitment to diversity and cultural competence with the ability to work with and support diverse groups of students
- Attend all meetings, trainings and professional development sessions scheduled by the Director of Residence Life.
- Serve in Director of Residence Life absence
- Other duties as assigned.
Compensation:

- Master's degree required.
- 2-3 years of previous experience in residence life.
- Knowledge of issues pertaining to college life.
- Commitment and ability to create and maintain a diverse, multicultural community.
- Demonstrated experience in multicultural issues with a focus on education and training.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, intervention and crisis management skills.
- Experience working with computers preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- COVID-19 Vaccination and Vaccine Booster Shot required.
