Job Content

1.      Role Objective

Provide strategic direction, academic planning, leadership and administrative oversight for

learning, teaching and assessment, research and enterprise, student experience, and

development of laboratories to achieve the highest possible standards in education and research.

2.      Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the college and its academic programs portfolio;
• Create and develop a cohesive and unified college with unique and new programs portfolio to differentiate it in the Sultanate of Oman;
• Provide leadership and oversight of quality assessment programs in compliance with OAAA and international accreditation standards;
• Assist to achieve education excellence through the supervision of the teaching process, examinations and general performance and ensure smooth and orderly progress of work in the college;
• Look into the needs of the college with regard to academic staff, researchers, technicians, administrators, equipment, materials, books and any other requirements and make recommendations to the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Research;
• Prepare budget estimates for the college and academic reports on a semester and annual basis;
• Prepare long and medium term strategic and annual plans for the development of the college;
• Develop, implement, promote and evaluate curriculum and ensure its validity and currency with the latest trends;
• Oversees the overall assessment program and ensuring that relevant standards are followed;

Qualification, Experiences and Skills

Qualification

An earned PhD from a recognized University

Experience

·         A record of excellence in teaching and research

·         A minimum of an earned academic rank of Associate Professor

·         Minimum 3 years’ experience in an academic supervisory position

Knowledge & Skills

·         Strong leadership and management skills consistent with the duties of Dean of College including the management of staff performance.

·         Effectiveness in formal and informal interaction and communication with students, University Staff and external stakeholders.
