Job Description Summary

The Digital Marketing Manager leads and manages the implementation of Chapman University’s online marketing campaigns and initiatives per Strategic Marketing and Communications’ ( SMC ) direction and goals. They work with the Director of Marketing, marketing team and the web development team to build and implement digital marketing efforts. This includes website optimization, user experience testing, SEO / SEM, social media, email marketing, analytical reporting and digital advertising.

They will manage the day-to-day operations of SMC’s digital marketing team and technology to ensure that our marketing efforts are measured, compliant, current, quality-checked and effective in meeting our goals. This role reports to the Director of Marketing in Strategic Marketing and Communications. Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience is highly desired.

Responsibilities

Ensure a consistent and frictionless Chapman Experience on all websites and social media accounts.
  • Develop strong partnerships across campus to pull data and translate for a holistic view of the current online experience.
  • Deliver compelling and executive-level proposals to help supervisor and management understand digital strategies and campaigns
  • Test and evaluate SMC web environments through web metrics, competitor research, user testing, focus groups and site audits; identifying needs and making recommendations for enhancements and fixes
  • Establish core web analytics and metrics to measure success using Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Data Studio, SEMrush and SiteImprove.
  • Act as the SMC owner and expert for our homegrown tools, including events.chapman, blogs.chapman and signage.chapman
  • Manage the workflow process, best practices and day to day use of our website content management system ( CMS ) Cascade.
Manage the Digital Marketing team
  • Ensure projects are completed in a timely manner and measured for quality and effectiveness (utilizing Workfront)
  • Provide hands on support for the team when needed
  • Identify opportunities for professional development
  • Empower and support the team’s professional and collaborative efforts
Manage marketing efforts through campaign documentation and Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Strategize about campaigns and targeting
  • Support marketing plan development and implementation including email marketing, digital advertising, SEO / SEM and web optimization efforts
  • Support Salesforce Marketing Cloud efforts including email marketing and cloud pages.
  • Create automations and audiences
In addition:
  • Collaborate with the Communication team to ensure digital content is on-brand, shareable and consistent across all marketing efforts.
  • Develop, write and maintain resources and guides and train on digital marketing procedures and best practices for campus partners and internal SMC team
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong technical knowledge and use of current online social media platforms
  • Strong knowledge of Facebook Business Manager, Google AdWords, LinkedIn Advertising, etc.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills; Strong attention to detail
  • Strong management skills
  • Basic Photoshop skills
  • Familiarity with basic SEO
  • Understanding of the online use of image, video and audio
  • Strong creative, visual and typographic skills with the demonstrated ability to present and explain ideas clearly and create visual presentations
  • Possesses a user experience eye for website architecture and layout.
  • Understanding of marketing and branding principles
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate current platforms and campaigns to determine effectiveness
  • Ability to prioritize duties when faced with fluctuating workload
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with diverse constituents both insides and outside of the University
  • Computer skills in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field or the equivalent combinations of education and experience
