RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Working in collaboration with Library & Learning Resources leadership, coordinates program and service coordination in operationally distinct but related library and academic success services to deliver high impact academic and research support to students.

Leads strategic planning, assessment, and reporting initiatives that facilitate Library & Learning Resources program and service alignment with university and system-wide student success objectives.

Builds strong relationships with campus partners whose work intersects with Library & Learning Resources to participate collaboratively in cross-institutional initiatives that effectively align and complement the work of the unit.

Manages and implements complex Library & Learning Resources projects involving multiple stakeholders in cross-functional teams to facilitate effective and coordinated use of limited resources and to ensure successful completion of project objectives.

In collaboration with Library and Center leadership, contributes to GI2025 and other student success initiatives, notably by supporting retention and success in core academic courses.

Participates in CSUCI efforts to engage minoritized and/or underrepresented communities and perform all position tasks with an equity lens with the goal of achieving more equitable outcomes for students.

Gathers and compiles data for reports for the Dean and develops and maintains reporting systems to generate data necessary for mandated reporting to external agencies. Fosters and supports a culture of data-informed, continuous improvement.

Represents the Library and Learning Resources unit in contacts and at meetings and events both on- and off-campus as needed.

Assumes responsibility for the library in the Dean’s absence; and other responsibilities and initiatives as required.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Minimum Qualifications

Terminal degree in Library/Information Science or an advanced degree in a closely related subject area (including, but not limited to, archival studies, library education, informatics, museum studies); significant record of effective supervisory, administrative, and financial management experience in a higher education library setting with a strong service orientation; a sustained record of professional and scholarly activity to qualify for appointment at the level of Librarian with tenure; minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in academic or research libraries, which includes minimum of three years lead work or direct supervision of others.

Sound grasp of current issues and trends in academic libraries and academic success operations and services.  Understanding of an integrated Learning Commons model that offers coordinated and cohesive learning support services for student academic success. Demonstrated ability to manage and implement complex projects involving cross-divisional stakeholders, resources, and timelines; strong organizational skills and ability to respond effectively to changing institutional needs and priorities.

Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively both independently and as a team leader and member to set and accomplish strategic goals and priorities in a collegial environment.  Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work under pressure with competing demands. Commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment and workplace, and ability to work with a diverse student and faculty population and a commitment to build strong relationships that respect diversity of identity, background, and perspectives.

Instruction experience in a higher education setting; proven ability to support faculty research in a research-practitioner environment. Preference will be given to qualified candidates who demonstrate a commitment to recruiting, retaining, mentoring, and actively engaging with underrepresented and underserved populations both on campus and in the broader community.
