The Psychology BA/BS program provides the student with an overview of the major areas within psychology, along with the opportunity to select courses that fit their personal interests.
As a psychology student, you will learn the psychological theory methods of inquiry, evaluation, and drawing appropriate conclusions as well as learn skills that are useful for problem-solving in many applied settings. Students will gain a strong ability to conduct research and critically analyze human behavior.

Students are encouraged to take advantage of many opportunities in the psychology department, including field placements and both laboratory and field-based research.

Description of Job

The Visiting Assistant Professor teaches baccalaureate-level courses in accordance with the needs of the Department of Psychology including an expertise in experimental psychology.  Teaching responsibilities include: prepares and presents course materials; administers appropriate tests; evaluates student outcomes; selects and orders texts and other assigned course materials; develops, administers and grades assignments; and assigns final grades. Completes reporting related to student attendances and grade checks. Proposes curriculum changes and program modifications to the Department Chair and takes part in annual program assessment of student learning outcomes. There are opportunities for advising, summer teaching, laboratory assignments, scholarship, and professional development.  
 
This position is funded through Vision 2028 through fiscal year 2024. Renewal of position funding is contingent upon continued funding of the project, budgetary approvals, and university fiscal sustainability.

Completes reporting related to student attendances and grade checks.
 
Proposes curriculum changes and program modifications to the Department Chair and takes part in annual program assessment of student learning outcomes.

Engages in scholarly activity including grant writing, preparation, and submission; produces scholarly work appropriate to the discipline, and disseminates scholarship at appropriate venues.

Advises students; participates in student recruitment, student retention, and program development and assessment activities; attends department, college, and other campus meetings and department, college, and university functions; serves on department/college committees.

Ancillary Duties:
Completes training recommended or required by the department, college, or university.

  • Ph.D. in Psychology or related field (ABD acceptable)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possible courses may include quantitative research methods; clinical psychology; abnormal psychology; health psychology; and art therapy

Condition of Employment
