Buena Vista University (BVU) seeks two collaborative and
detailed-oriented individuals who are strong relationship builders
to serve as Success Coaches. These individuals are responsible for
providing holistic coaching and developing one-on-one relationships
with students to promote persistence and graduation. Success
Coaches carry a case load of students who are in their first or
second year at BVU and help students with accessing resources on
campus, exploring their major, finding extracurricular
involvements, financial planning, career advice, and general
support in navigating college. Success Coaches are responsible for
coordinating pre-arrival outreach to students, maintaining regular
communication including 1:1 meetings, and coordinating workshops to
address student transition issues. These positions are critical to
providing guidance and support to students who have had more
difficulties in transitioning to college due to the pandemic. These
individuals will proactively work with students to support their
growth, development, and success at BVU. Success Coaches will also
assist with Student Success major programs and BVU traditions
including but not limited to Orientation, Welcome Weekend, Resident
Move-In, and Buenafication Day.
Qualified applicants must be highly motivated, personable,
flexible, detail focused and adaptable to changing environments and
possess excellent interpersonal, written communication and
presentation skills. Demonstrated experience with higher education,
life coaching, leadership programs, or similar areas is needed.
Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred in student
affairs, psychology, counseling or comparable program.
A background check will be conducted on the final candidate.
