Essential Duties

  • Works with colleagues and customers to identify requirements for data processing.
  • Works with functional areas to develop policies, standards, definitions, and conventions governing the creation and use of data. 
  • Audits data and reports results to functional areas for reinforcement of established policies, standards, definitions, and conventions. 
  • Identifies appropriate data sources; gathers, cleans, and integrates data.
  • Implements procedures such as data validation, duplicate resolution processes, system change requests, and system integration / user acceptance testing to ensure ongoing integrity and consistency of data. 
  • Supports the applicable systems and databases for access, error resolution, and processes to keep data in sync with a variety of inter-related systems. 
  • Coordinates testing of new releases of the application to identify impacts to and across data libraries and/or databases to ensure data integrity. 
  • Creates processes to further clean and enhance source data for downstream processing.
  • Performs analyses of data and creates reports or dashboards to share findings.
  • Prepares and disseminates reference sources containing pertinent policies, definitions, and other information necessary to use administrative data.
  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, or related field AND two (2) years previous software support experience; OR, Any combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Experience working with a variety of customers to generate requirements and evaluate business processes’ creation and use of data.
  • Ability to think critically and develop creative solutions to challenging problems.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with rapidly-changing priorities, tight deadlines, and minimal direction. Experience working with higher education student data.
  • Experience cleaning, transforming, and integrating raw data; writing advanced SQL and processing data with modern and current business intelligence tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning methods.
  • Experience creating reports and dashboards based on customer needs, using Excel, Tableau, PowerBI, SSRS, R Shiny, and/or Javascript.
  • Experience in understanding and learning new business processes, toolsets, and techniques very quickly. 
  • Ability to apply attention to detail in technical development, product documentation, and communicating concepts. Evidence of effective communication skills and professionalism.

 

Working Environment

EdPlus at ASU is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The center houses a diverse business community that links technology, research, education and entrepreneurship to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders in the knowledge economy.

 

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.
