Job Description
The Department of Medicine within the School of Medicine is pleased to announce an opening for a Payroll Assistant (Business Support Specialist II). This position will work alongside the department’s fiscal manager and SOM Central HR to ensure all University policies and procedures related to payroll are met. Additionally, this position will assist the fiscal manager in other finance activities.
Job Duties:
- Process monthly payroll reconciliation, payroll approvals, additional pay forms, rosters, monthly push up files, etc..
- Serve as department Time Keeper
- Serve as a backup for staff recruitment
- Escort candidates
- Correspond/confirm interviews with all parties
- Enter JED changes and payroll correcting entries
- Maintain the faculty and staff master lists
- Perform account reconciliation (includes specialized spreadsheets and sending info to divisions, including spreadsheets for the department chairman)
- Create journal entries
- Monitor incoming fax line and distribute faxes accordingly
- Assist with mail
- Maintenance of accounts (listings, removals, updating staff)
Salary
Salary Range: $15.29 - $26.11 Hourly
Grade: GGS - 007

Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications
An Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
An Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Two years working in PeopleSoft Financials and/or PeopleSoft HR Production. Two to three years of experience in administrative capacity is necessary.
