Job Description: 

Longwood University invites applications for the position of Title IX Coordinator (GA038). The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring the University’s compliance with the Title IX and associated federal and Commonwealth of Virginia laws and regulations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Monitor Longwood University policy in relation to Title IX law and regulations
  • Implement grievance procedures for students and employees (faculty and staff), including notification, investigation, disposition, and remediation of complaints
  • Conduct and/or coordinate inquiries and investigations of complaints received pursuant to Title IX, ensuring a fair and equitable process for all parties
  • Provide or facilitate primary and ongoing Title IX training to employees (faculty, staff, and applicable student-employees), ensuring compliance with training policies
  • Provide or facilitate primary and ongoing Responsible Employee training to employees (faculty, staff, and applicable student employees) and applicable volunteers for the University, ensuring compliance with training policies
  • Provide specialized training for Civil Rights/Title IX Investigators, fact finders, hearing and appeals board members (e.g. University Hearing Board and University Appeals Board members)
  • Provide materials for the campus community with regards to Title IX related policies (e.g. Sexual Misconduct Policy, Annual Crime and Sexual Misconduct Training)
  • Provide training, consultation, and technical assistance to members of the University, on issues related to Title IX
  • Work collaboratively with Longwood University Police, other Campus Partners, and off-campus resources, to ensure compliance with Title IX associated Federal and Commonwealth of Virginia law and regulations
  • Serve as the University expert on Title IX requirements and compliance, and provide consultation to senior administration and other campus constituencies as necessary

 

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Juris Doctorate or Master's degree in higher education administration, counseling, or other relevant discipline required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience pertaining to gender-based violence and discrimination, including conducting investigations alleging sexual misconduct as well as investigating alleged discrimination, and discriminatory harassment
  • Higher Education experience preferred
  • Assessment experience preferred
  • Civil Rights / Title IX experience preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of constituencies (students, staff, faculty, parents/guardians, and administrators) with diplomacy and tact
  • Ability to act independently, take initiative and exercise sound judgment
  • Some weekend and evening work is required as necessary

This position is a full-time, administrative & professional faculty, exempt position. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits accompany this position.
