Clinical Assistant Professor of Information Science

The Department of Information Science (DIS) in the College of Information of the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a non-tenure-track Clinical Assistant Professor position to begin fall 2022. We are seeking exceptional candidates with interests in a wide range of topics. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Social Justice, and Business Analytics.

The Department of Information Science, one of three departments in the College of Information, promotes the understanding of, access to and use of data and information through teaching, research and service activities. The department prepares data and information and professionals of the highest quality to serve in dynamic roles locally, nationally and globally. Faculty members of the department measure their success by the success of their students and the quality of intellectual contributions to the profession and society.

The American Library Association has accredited the department’s master’s program continuously since 1965. The Department offers two bachelor’s degrees, post-master’s certificates, and a doctoral degree in Information Science. Position Summary

The Department of Information Science (DIS) in the College of Information of the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a non-tenure-track Clinical Assistant Professor position. We are seeking exceptional candidates with interests in a wide range of topics. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Social Justice, and Business Analytics. We expect candidates to successfully teach both undergraduate and graduate courses and to design and deliver courses in various formats, including online and hybrid modalities. The position carries a typical teaching load of three courses during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Qualifications

An earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree in Information and Library Science or related field would be preferred, but a master’s degree or equivalent degree may be considered if there is extensive and relevant industry experience demonstrated. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of effective teaching in broad areas of Information and Library Science or related fields.

The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge and research experience of information and library science, with a strong interest in teaching to students from a variety of disciplines. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated commitment to diversity as evidenced by their teaching. Prior university teaching experience and applied experience outside of academic settings are preferred.
