Position overview

The School of Business at Menlo College seeks well-qualified applicants for a full-time faculty position in the areas of Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, and Strategy. A well-qualified candidate at a rank appropriate to the applicant's credentials will teach in and be expected to contribute to the development of courses in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, and Strategy.

The successful candidate must have completed and earned a research doctorate with specialization in Management, Organization Theories, and Strategy from an AACSB accredited business school. A Ph.D. is required by the start date, and the position begins on August 1, 2022. Current doctoral students must be on course to complete all degree requirements by July 30, 2022. We seek an individual excited about collaborating to develop and deliver innovative, practice-grounded learning experiences, teaching undergraduates, and being an active member of a community of scholars. The business world is in a time of significant change. The Bay Area's Silicon Valley is at the hub of these changes; here at Menlo College, we have a great opportunity – and responsibility – to prepare our students to make a positive impact in the world. 


Expectations of the Ideal Candidate

• Demonstrates evidence of teaching experience and a strong potential for teaching excellence, and a desire to work in a collaborative, team-teaching setting. Possesses scholarly research interests in organizational behavior, strategy, and entrepreneurship.

• Exhibits an interest in and an aptitude for building relationships with organizations in Silicon Valley and the greater Bay Area.

• Equipped with substantial relevant work experience and/or research directly related to the practice of their discipline.

• Motivated to participate in courses and programs closely aligned with current organizational behavior, strategy, and entrepreneurship, including project-based collaborations between students, faculty, and local companies.


Key Responsibilities

• Teach eight courses per academic year at the intersection of practical human resource management, organizational behavior, and strategy.

• Undertake and publish scholarship that is grounded in business practice.

• Engage actively in shared governance and other service assignments to the campus.

• Mentor and advise undergraduate students.

• Contribute to curriculum assessment as needed.

• Participate in a collaborative and supportive environment with colleagues with substantial business experience and research expertise.

• Participate in courses and programs that are project-based collaborations between students, faculty, and local companies.
