Kent State University at Trumbull and the College of Applied and Technical Studies (CATS) is seeking a 12-month, full time non-tenure track (FTNTT) faculty member to coordinate and develop curriculum within the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Criminology and Justice Studies, as well as the Police Officer Training Academy (POTA) concentration. This unique position blends coordinator duties; curriculum development; diversity, equity, and inclusion work; community engagement; and law enforcement. Job description:

  • Provide academic assessment and oversight of AAS degree in Criminology and Justice Studies and POTA concentration, collaborating with and integrating into the police academy program.
  • Teaching within the program and academy is an integral part of the position.
  • Collaborate with important campus stakeholders, including the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, to ensure that curriculum reflects an integrated diversity, equity, and inclusion lens.
  • Coordinate partnerships with community agencies and police departments.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating community focus groups across all eight Kent State campuses.
  • Assist in the development of a recruitment, marketing, and outreach strategy to attract a diverse set of students into the A.A.S. degree in Criminology and Justice Studies as well as the POTA concentration.
  • Required travel between Kent State University campuses

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Criminology, Sociology, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Some experiences in the following areas are required: curriculum development, community engagement, program evaluation, work in a multi-campus system, diversity initiatives and social equality and justice, law enforcement
