The Department of Finance and Division of Real Estate in the W. P. Carey School of Business at ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY invites applications for Director of the Division of Real Estate at the rank of Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor, or Professor of Practice in the area of Real Estate with the appointment beginning as early as Fall 2022.

This position represents an opportunity for a student-focused, dynamic critical thinker to strengthen real estate education and discovery at one of the world’s most dynamic business schools. The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial leader with professional experience in the real estate industry.

The Division of Real Estate oversees programs including the undergraduate minor in real estate, Masters of Real Estate Development, Graduate Certificate in Real Estate, Center for Real Estate Theory and Practice, professional and executive education, and various related programs. The Director will be responsible for achieving goals of the Division and coordination of activities across multiple programs.

The successful candidate will give detailed attention to program strategy and implementation in coordination with the current Director and Assistant Director of Real Estate Programs, as well as advance a clear vision for the growth and impact of the Division in coordination with the Department Chair and Dean. General duties will include teaching, program management, fund raising, scheduling, and budgeting for the execution of multiple interconnected programs and projects.

Essential Functions: The candidate must contribute to the Department of Finance’s mission in the areas of teaching, curriculum development, and service.  The candidate must be able to deliver excellent instruction within and manage graduate and undergraduate real estate education programs, as well as organize and conduct applied research.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Clinical Associate Professor – 1) A Ph.D. in business, finance, real estate or related field by August 2022; 2) The equivalent of 5 years of full-time teaching at a four-year institution that have been successfully completed and reviewed at the university level that includes curriculum development, classroom management, student interaction, and assessment; 3) Familiarity with various aspects of real estate industry practice, including planning, investment, development, and management. 4) Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management capabilities; ability to interact with and engage diverse internal and external constituencies.

Clinical Professor – 1) A Ph.D. in business, finance, real estate or related field by August 2022; 2) The equivalent of 7 years of full-time teaching at a four-year institution that have been successfully completed and reviewed at the university level that includes curriculum development, classroom management, student interaction, and assessment; 3) Familiarity with various aspects of real estate industry practice, including planning, investment, development, and management. 4) Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management capabilities; ability to interact with and engage diverse internal and external constituencies.

Professor of Practice – 1) A completed Masters or Ph.D. in business, finance, real estate or related field by August 2022; 2) 10 years of experience working in the real estate industry at a senior level; 3) The equivalent of 5 years of full-time teaching at a four-year institution that have been successfully completed and reviewed at the university level that includes curriculum development, classroom management, student interaction, and assessment; 3) Familiarity with various aspects of real estate industry practice, including planning, investment, development, and management. 4) Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management capabilities; ability to interact with and engage diverse internal and external constituencies.

Desired Qualifications:

1) Ability to meet AACSB business accreditation standards for participating faculty; 2) Excellence in teaching multiple courses in finance and/or real estate across a variety of platforms, including executive, onsite, online, graduate and undergraduate levels; 3) Significant service and professional contributions to the finance or real estate profession including relevant work experience and/or earned professional designations; 4) Minimum of 7 years' experience in various aspects of real estate planning, investment, management and development.; 5) Experience with media interactions including radio and TV interviews and composition of subject matter articles; 6) Demonstrated success in managing personnel and/or faculty and staff as evidenced by 5 years’ experience or equivalent  in business or program management; 6) Experience defining, organizing and managing applied research and/or consulting related to real estate.
