Dakota State University is accepting applications for a Mental
Health Counselor. This 10-month position will be responsible for
providing counseling, life coaching, structured mentorship, and
wellness programming around social and life skill development for
students at DSU. The position will provide counseling services
to address the mental health concerns of current Dakota State
University students. Additional responsibilities would include
providing campus outreach and education and training as it pertains
to mental health initiatives, drug & alcohol prevention, and
wellness.

Duties:
- Provide general counseling support for students experiencing general psychosocial difficulties and academic issues.
- Develop and implement education and support programs for students.
- Collaborate with others on campus or in the community to provide services and resources for students.
- Develop and implement campus outreach initiatives in mental health, drug and alcohol prevention and wellness for the Counseling Center.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A master’s degree required in counseling or related discipline such as psychology, sociology, social work or human services and behavior sciences.
- A minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in higher education working with students in the areas of counseling, education, or administration.
- Professional license in the state of South Dakota. If not currently licensed, the ability to work towards licensure completion is required.
- A certification from the National Board for Certified Counselors is preferred.
- Experience as a licensed professional counselor.
