Job Description
The University of Missouri School of Law is seeking a full-time professional to serve as Program Manager I in our Office of Career Development and Student Services. The primary responsibilities for this position will be to coordinate and implement career, professional development, and student support programs for students at the School of Law and to develop and enhance relationships with legal employers.
Duties include:
- Providing one-on-one career counseling to law students and alumni;
- Assisting law students and alumni with the development of a strategic career plan;
- Advising students on developing fundamental lawyering skills necessary or advantageous to their professional development;
- Creating and updating career-related materials for use by law students;
- Promoting Mizzou School of Law and its students to prospective employers;
- Cultivating relationships with alumni and prospective employers in order to increase employment opportunities for Mizzou law students;
- Teaching the Externship course as needed;
- Coordinating various student services programs including the pro bono certificate program, the career and professional development credit program, and student organization advising;
- Assisting with the administration of other student services, including on-campus interviewing, bar information and support, and academic advising;
- Planning programming for the career and professional development credit program, coordinating logistics with guest speakers, and managing the tracking of credits;
- Assisting with maintenance of our electronic job bank and career development website;
- Planning career fairs and networking events, both on- and off-site;
- Planning and accompanying law students to employer site visits, Bar functions, job fairs, and networking opportunities;
- Assisting with the collection of data as required for reporting to the ABA and other third parties; and
- Supervising student assistants.
$55,000 - $65,000

Shift
Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with occasional events requiring evenings or weekends
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A JD and at least 2 years of legal or JD advantage experience;
- Ability to communicate with a diverse population;
- Knowledge of career development counseling and the ability to provide career advice and coaching to students and alumni;
- Excellent planning and organizational skills;
- Demonstrated experience developing and presenting materials;
- Employer-side experience with attorney or law student recruiting processes;
- A strong network of contacts with employers within and outside the State of Missouri; and
- Strong computer skills and comfort using social media.
