Job Description

The Director of Campus Facilities is responsible for the daily operations, oversight, and management of the campus facilities including over 5 million square feet, 82 buildings, 150 acres of the UMKC Volker campus and UMKC Health Sciences campus located in Kansas City.

The Director oversees facilities operations; managing facilities budgets, directing maintenance and repair activities, responding to emergencies, managing contractors, oversight of residential real estate portfolio, and other duties as assigned. The reporting units include: in-house construction, maintenance & projects, landscaping & grounds, warehouse, mail service, facility trade shops, plant operations, energy management, residential life facilities, fleet and transportation, and custodial services. The Director of Facilities reports directly to Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 8 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, facilities management, construction management, business
  • Master’s degree in architecture, engineering, business, public administration, or related field.
  • Experience developing and monitoring budgets.
  • Experience working in higher education, or a campus-like environment
  • Experience in implementing effective processes, procedure, and metrics to manage work with
  • Experience working with trades that are union eligible.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Comfortable working with technology on a regular basis including Microsoft Office software & Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS)
  • Facilities management certification
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
Full Time/Part Time

Full time (1.0 FTE), benefit-eligible, staff position.

Salary

$83,400 - $135,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
