The College of Science and Technology (CoST) at North Carolina A&T State University seeks a dynamic and innovative Director for the Applied Science and Technology (AST) Ph.D. Program. The successful candidate is expected to have significant experience in higher education and possess a distinguished record of scholarship and research. The position is a 12-month administrative position with a tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of Professor. An appointment at the Associate professor level can be considered for candidates who exhibit exceptional potential for growth. The successful candidate is also expected to have a vision for invigorating and expanding the educational, research, and service efforts of the AST Program. Candidates should exhibit a strong commitment to scholarship and excellence in an area represented under the CoST and exhibit open and collegial management and leadership style.

Reporting directly to the Dean of the College of Science and Technology, the AST Program Director is expected to provide intellectual leadership and foster excellence in all AST program efforts. Some of the Program Director's responsibilities include:

Graduate student recruitment and mentoring; oversee the admission process in collaboration with the different departments; promoting student success; oversee the progress of all enrolled students; communication with students and faculty about student progress and issues; administration of qualifying exams and preliminary exams; work with the Dean's office on the student funding proposals and requests; ensuring quality graduate course offering; supporting AST faculty research and teaching and service; providing oversight and stewardship for the administrative, financial, and academic programs; engage faculty in strategic planning; program assessment and reporting; serve as a liaison with the Graduate College, fundraising, and teaching.
