The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of Utah Spencer F. Eccles School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Pediatric Gastroenterologist, with a primary focus in general pediatric gastroenterology.  This is an outstanding opportunity to join a vibrant and collegial academic environment, and work in a children’s hospital ranked as one of the best in the U.S. The Pediatric Gastroenterologist will be part of an incredibly collegial 15 faculty member clinical team. The physician will provide outpatient and inpatient care for pediatric gastroenterology patients, and will participate in clinical outreach activities at our pediatric gastroenterology satellite clinics. The physician will also participate in teaching pediatric residents and GI fellows.  Although the primary focus of this position is clinical service, there is an expectation for academic work, including education, investigation, administration, as well as advocacy.

Clinical activities are carried out at Primary Children’s Hospital (PCH), which is a 289-bed Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake, City, Utah.  In 2024, a second PCH campus is scheduled to open in Lehi, Utah.  The Division serves the largest geographic catchment area in the United States, with a diverse mix of patients from Utah, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Wyoming and New Mexico.

The Division currently has 15 physicians, four advanced practice nurse clinicians, six registered nurses, and three pediatric GI fellows. The Division has all pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition clinical services represented with the exception of small bowel transplantation.  The liver transplant program has performed >280 liver transplants since its inception.  The program is one of the only centers in the country with a pediatric ERCP/advanced endoscopy program.  Additional programs include fully equipped and staffed endoscopy suites, a gastrointestinal Motility Disorders Center, a multidisciplinary IBD program with close collaboration with an IBD surgery program, close collaboration with the Cystic Fibrosis Center, Food Allergy and Eosinophilic Disorders Clinic, the Esophageal and Airway Treatment Center, a Feeding and Swallowing Center, a comprehensive nutrition center, an Aerodigestive Clinic, a Home Enteral Feeding Transitions program (post-NICU) and a multidisciplinary Colorectal Center.

The successful candidate must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Gastroenterology.  The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Department and University offers a competitive salary and an unmatched benefits program, including non-contributory retirement contributions of 20.2% of annual salary that vest immediately. The Department offers a faculty development and mentoring program designed to help faculty succeed in translational or basic research.
