Title: Coordinator of Educational Technology Support

Position Summary: The Coordinator of Educational Technology Support works under the direction of the Dean of Academic Support and is responsible for overseeing the implementation and administration of the learning management system (LMS) and related technologies at Volunteer State Community College. The coordinator works closely with instructional designers, members of the Information Technology department, and academic division leadership in planning, executing, and assessing the appropriate use of emerging educational technologies. The position supports professional learning by actively researching educational technology trends and developments, providing ongoing professional learning opportunities for faculty members, and making recommendations consistent with the department's mission and goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary administrator of Vol State's learning management system (LMS), D2L Brightspace. This includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:

Provide educational technology support to faculty, students, and staff.

Track support service provided by using a ticketing system to log support requests and communicate with the requestor(s).

Create documentation and instructional materials (print, web, and video formats) to support LMS users.

Lead training for faculty, students, and staff on a variety of educational technologies.

Troubleshoot technical problems and issues related to use of the LMS.

Manage technical integrations between the LMS and third-party resources.

Collaborate with VSCC IT to manage the technical integration between the LMS and the college's student information system (Banner) to assure accuracy of LMS courses and enrollments.

Represent Vol State at the TBR system level LMS administrative group.

Stay abreast of LMS updates to ensure minimal disruptions to the learning environment.

Proactively communicate important updates and information to LMS users.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Explore, develop, and use new technologies and technology-based virtual delivery methods to enhance teaching, research, service, and student achievement.

Maintain a current knowledge of educational technology trends and research, reporting findings and making recommendations to the Distributed Education team as appropriate.

Support the college and department's accessibility efforts by creating accessible content, assisting in remediating VSCC online education assets, and vetting new technologies through the lens of accessibility.

Plan and provide ongoing professional learning opportunities for faculty technology use, in both group and one-on-one settings. Includes giving presentations in person and through virtual conferencing systems.

Supervise and train student workers.

Maintain departmental social media outlets.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher. At least three years of providing technical support, training, or other related experience. Experience using or supporting a learning management system.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree preferred. Recent experience working in higher education, particularly online or distance education.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: Strong problem-solving skills. Proficiency in CSV Uploads, XML, and API calls. Understanding of SCORM, AICC and xAPI standards. Working understanding of LTI 1.3 and LTI Advantage. Ability to create reports from LMS data. Proficiency using Microsoft applications (e.g., Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook) and web authoring applications (e.g., HTML and CSS). Knowledge of WCAG guidelines and basic accessibility formatting guidelines. Ability to quickly learn new technologies and instruct others in their use. Ability to be flexible and react to change productively. Ability to prioritize work and multitask; must be detail-oriented. Excellent written, verbal, telephone, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information.

Pay Rate: 40,200.00 - 50,250.00 annual salary depending on experience
