Graduate Assistant - Student Engagement and Leadership

The SEAL Graduate Assistant serves the Office of Student Engagement and
Leadership in a number of ways. The position will receive direct one-on-one student organization advising experience as the lead advisor to Emerson Mane Events, and supervisory experience in the development, implementation, and assessment for training and engagement of Campus Centers student staff. The position is a flexible 15 hours a week, being mindful of night and weekend commitments. This position will work hand-in-hand with the other Graduate Assistant, student workers, student volunteers and other professional office staff.

The Student Engagement and Leadership Graduate Assistant will help with specific day-to-day operations within the Campus Centers (a functional area of the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership). Duties may evolve due to needs and shifting priorities, as well as areas of interest of the Graduate Assistant.

Tasks will include, but are not limited to-
  • Advising of Emerson Mane Events, the college's student activities board
  • Creation of student employee training concerning equity and access within the Campus Centers student staff
  • Creation and implementation of training, development, and engagement for Campus Centers student staff
  • Day-to-day operational needs within the Campus Centers
  • Assist with the annual Emerson Recognition & Achievement Awards


Other Responsibilities:
Tasks will include, but are not limited to-
  • Serving as a member of Student Engagement and Leadership at campus wide programs including Orientation, Family Weekend, Recruitment events and other Student Affairs functions
  • Help create intentional branding and marketing to promote the office and its features


Qualifications:
Must have a bachelor's degree. Must be enrolled in graduate level course work in the Boston area.

Preferred Qualifications:
Student Affairs experience as a student leader at an undergraduate institution. Comfortable with designing virtual and in person workshops. Comfortable with public speaking.
