As conditions of employment, candidate must submit to and pass a background investigation, including a drug test, conducted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. During employment, employee is subject to random drug

Testing as performed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Position also requires participation in training required by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Position is subject to all Department of Corrections policies, rules, and regulations. Continuation in this position is contingent on funding by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

 

 

Function:

To perform instructional and related duties in the College’s Industrial Technology Program at the Greenville Federal Prison Camp.

 

Organizational Relationship:

Faculty member reports to the Dean of Career and Technical Education, who reports to the Vice President of

Instructional Services, who reports to the President of the College.  Faculty member supervises student

worker(s) as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associate in Applied Science degree in Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, Industrial Technology, Automation or related field.

 

  • Minimum of five-years work experience in Electronics, Industrial Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Automation or related field.

 

  • Possess a strong commitment to student learning and to the use of technology and innovation in the
  • delivery of instruction.

 

  • Excellent communication, organization, planning, and presentation skills.

 

  • Willingness and ability to teach students in a correctional facility setting.

 

  • Willingness and ability to work with entire College community in an effective and positive manner.

 

  • Willingness to work with area manufacturing plants and additional industrial technology businesses to ensure program need and modernity.

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

 

  • Two years community college teaching experience.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Perform instructional duties in a correctional facility setting
  • Prepare or update syllabi and curriculum materials as needed for all courses in which the faculty member has instructional responsibilities.
  • Schedule classroom activity with shop and work experience activities to provide the student with the necessary skills and knowledge for job placement
  • Collaborate with the KC Industrial Technology Instructor as necessary and needed
  • Attend and participate in faculty and committee meetings, sponsorship of student activities and other College activities as requested
  • Prepare reports as required.
  • Participate in commencement exercises at the Greenville Federal Prison Camp and main campus.
  • Cooperate with the Program Coordinator to effectively resolve student problems
  • Recommend textbooks and equipment, which the instructor deems necessary in instructional assignments.
  • Perform assessment of student learning and participate in College wide assessment program.
  • Perform program review.
  • Report absences from assigned responsibilities promptly to the Dean of CTE. 
  • Maintain responsibility for all attendance, classroom records and required reports for all inmates assigned to the program.
  • Comply with all tool control procedures as prescribed by the facility
  • Maintain inventory and control of materials and equipment.
  • Perform classroom maintenance related to program and maintain institutional equipment and inmate equipment as requested
  • Submit purchase order requests for instructional materials, books, required commodities and supplies to the Dean of CTE for approval
  • Prior to release, serve as a mentor to students on opportunities after release
  • Keep abreast of current trends, technologies and information in subject area.

 

Other Functions
  • Provide input to the Dean in the budget process. 

 

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervise student and inmate worker(s) as necessary.

 

Supervisory Controls:

Employee is required to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision.  Consultation

as necessary is available with the Dean/Vice President.

 

Guidelines:

Faculty member is expected to follow all College and correctional center policies and procedures as well as all local, state, and federal laws.  Faculty member is also expected to adhere to and foster development of Kaskaskia College core values of compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility and fairness.

 

Personal Relationships:

Faculty member will have daily contact with students and other College employees and will have frequent

contact with community.

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Duties will be performed in either a classroom setting or a business and industry environment. 

Travel within the College district, as well as occasional overnight travel is required as necessary.
