Director of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI)       Responsibilities

In this key leadership role at the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM), you will help us cultivate an environment that enables our approximately 8,400 staff members, 3,400 faculty members, and 2,900 trainees, students, and fellows to experience greater belonging. This will involve developing a culture that enhances mental and physical health, academic performance, and job satisfaction. In addition, your leadership will help us strengthen justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) within our 24 clinical and basic science departments, nine research institutes, three research centers, and numerous administrative offices. You will also provide high-value, high-impact consulting services to leaders of departments, research institutes, research centers, and administrative offices as well as their teams.

Qualifications

 

We’re seeking a committed, compassionate leader with:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience leading successful organization and team development initiatives, some of which in academic institutions
  • In-depth knowledge of organizational science and organization development
  • Expertise in adult learning, classroom teaching, executive coaching, or a related field
  • Solid background in business administration, project management, or a related field
  • Knowledge of research-based practices in justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Skilled at leading (and building the capacity of others to lead) both organization and team development initiatives
  • Excellent consultation, strategic planning, leadership and facilitation skills
  • Ability to administer and interpret psychometrically-sound assessments and communicate results through feedback sessions
  • Ability to design, facilitate, and evaluate JEDI-centered professional development programs
  • Proficiency in collecting, organizing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data using R, SPSS, NVivo, Dedoose, etc.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, presentation, project management and problem-solving skills
