TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Renewable, Full-Time, 165 days

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: The STEM department at Tompkins Cortland Community College is seeking a full-time, tenure- track faculty member with expertise in one of the following areas: environmental chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics or chemistry. The faculty member will be required to teach introductory level laboratory-based courses for both majors, non-majors, and health science majors based on the applicants' experience.

 

Teaching assignments may involve teaching day, evening, online, hybrid, and HyFlex courses. Other responsibilities include student advising, serving on college committees, coordinating internship experiences, holding office hours, reviewing learning outcomes assessment, and other related duties as assigned by the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree or higher in areas outlined above. Minimum 3 years of instructional experience in a post-secondary setting.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. is preferred. Research experience and industry experience are also valued. Experience teaching introductory science courses with laboratory and working in a multicultural setting with a diverse student population, including non-traditional and under-prepared students is preferred. A demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development in the best practices of pedagogy is also preferred. Experience working in a multicultural setting and enhancing learning among a highly diverse student population is highly desirable.

 

EXPECTED HIRING SALARY RANGE: $47,267 - $59,085 - Salary subject to change pending outcome of Faculty Association negotiations. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
