Director of Strategic Enrollment Marketing & Communications

Alfred University seeks a dynamic individual to join our team for the Director of Strategic Enrollment Marketing & Communications position. This position will play a key collaborative role in advancing the university story and brand to meet enrollment goals. The position will be responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic communications plan that articulates the university's message to prospective students and their families in a variety of settings both at the Undergraduate and Graduate levels. The individual will interface directly with the Enrollment Management Division as well as all areas of the University to strengthen and creatively find ways to share the Alfred story to prospective students and families.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure consistency with the University's overall marketing and communications efforts including email, web, social media, video and print communication to prospective students & families Writes and drafts copy that is in line with the marketing objectives and brand standards of the university and the Office of Admissions
  • Responsible for creating and implementing recruitment messages that includes the creation of email templates and filters in the student database
  • Works in tandem with third party vendors that directly support the Enrollment Management Division
  • Responsible for the updating and maintenance of the websites that pertain to prospective student recruitment, admissions and enrollment
  • Structures creative deliverables in a data-informed fashion. Establish and measure indicators for success, so that we are certain that we are enabling deeper personalization, market penetration, and meaningful audience engagement wherever our creative assets are being utilized and deployed.
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Events on all related communications
  • Collaborates with the Manager of Enrollment Operations and external vendors on all Slate/CRM functions
  • Analyzes data to inform adjustments to email/campaign outreach continually working toward maximizing impact of digital/electronic messaging
  • Designs and executes all print communication for the Office of Admission & Financial Aid, working in conjunction with the Department of Marketing and Communication; including, but not limited to the University Viewbook, Travel Brochure, postcards, Junior Search Piece, Sophomore Search Piece, event postcards, financial aid award, and mailers
  • Assists with coordinating Office of Admissions communications flow to external audiences, including email and print sources.
  • Updates and maintains letters, templates, and other forms of communications to prospective students, applicants, admitted students, and others.
  • Keeps accurate inventory of available admissions print materials
Requirements:
  • Formal Education: Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, business administration, a liberal arts field or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience is required. A minimum of 5 years of design and communications experience with increasing responsibility in electronic and print communication and experience at an academic institution is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, preferably with experience in writing/editing
  • Familiarity with programming languages including HTML & Liquid Markup, preferred
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and current trends
  • Ability to serve as an ambassador of the University with availability to work/travel independently in the evening and on weekends as needed
  • Excellent project management, analytical, and organizational skills
