Coordinates and delivers career development programming, resource materials, and/or advising to students and alumni. Educates students, alumni, and other stakeholders about career development and opportunities and maintains relationships to aid in effective career planning. Supervises unit staff and/or has significant program management authority/responsibility, and strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and deliver career development programming, resources, and advise students and recent alumni. Manage a program within the unit that could include one of the following: Internship Program, Career & Professional Development Supervision of Student Staff/Interns, and/or Career Development/Exploration. Strive to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment for students and staff. Actively engage in the unit's mission, vision, and values to successfully meet goals. It is a 1.0 academic year contract. This position will work primarily with students and will advise in an industry(s). This position requires work in the evening and weekend hours with notice. Responsibilities include:

Student and Faculty Outreach & Program Management 75%
  • Meet individually with students to assist them in preparing for their job/internship search.
  • Strengthen/maintain faculty relationships through collaboration in maximizing the students’ experience in acquiring knowledge and skills for career readiness.
  • Engage students in presentations at classes, club meetings, or department advising sessions on a variety of career development topics.
  • Provide feedback on career related assignments in partnership with faculty.
  • Develop and co-deliver programs/events targeted to students and recent alumni.
  • Capture student's attention through utilizing technology in delivering services.
  • Attract, recruit, and retain high impact experiences for students each semester to receive internship credit.
  • Monitor students' experiences with learning contracts, goals, and documentation for academic credit and/or university recognition.
  • Conduct internship site visits to maintain relations as well as further expand opportunities.
  • Monitor, track and collect student outcomes in First Destination Survey to increase knowledge rate.
  • Evaluates program and implements improvements.
  • Educates or advises students and recent alumni individually, or in groups through various mediums about career exploration, self-assessment, skills, materials development, and career decisions
  • Develops and delivers career development programming and resource materials across various mediums to provide education to students
  • Responds to questions and provides information regarding student services, policies, procedures, and employment preparation
  • May identify and maintain a professional network of employers or other stakeholders to facilitate career exploration and employment opportunities for students
Supervision 15%
  • Hire, train, and coordinate workflow for student staff and interns in the office.
  • Create, coordinate, and deliver training for student staff and interns on a variety of topics.
  • Supervises unit staff and/or plans, organizes, allocates resources, assesses performance, and leads the operational activities for a significant portion of the unit's career services portfolio
University Involvement and Development 10%
  • Market the office to students, faculty, staff, and employers.
  • Seek out opportunities for professional development both on and off campus.
  • Organize programs and events, promote University to maintain relationships.
  • Participates in campus-wide career services community providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college/unit
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Career & Professional Development.
Qualifications

Required:

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field required

Minimum of two (2) years' experience in higher education, college recruiting or closely related experience

Working knowledge of student career development process and current career trends

Previous experience in student programming

Excellent presentation skills along with strong oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and make decisions in a fast-paced and changing work environment

Experience with MS Office, online databases, and operating AV equipment

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred:

Education: Master's Degree in related field preferred

Direct experience working in an area of career development

Knowledge of learning outcomes and processes of an experiential learning program for students

Experience with employer engagement and outreach

Recruitment, training, and supervision of student employees/interns Able to balance many tasks simultaneously and work well independently

Ability to sell services and events to a variety of constituents

Teaching experience
