LECTURER - ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES AND SCIENCES

The Ithaca College Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences invites applications for a part-time lecturer in environmental policy and/or environmental governance, and/or a related field. Our primary objective is coverage of two sections of an introductory environmental policy course in Fall 2022 and one section of an upper-level human dimensions of conservation course in Spring 2023. We seek a dedicated teacher eager to work with undergraduates who can help our students better understand the institutions and decisions surrounding society’s interactions with the environment.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or other appropriate degree in environmental studies, environmental policy, or a related field (e.g. environmental politics, environmental law, environmental justice, legal studies, environmental economics, political science, geography, urban studies, planning)
  • Strong desire for teaching undergraduates
Desired Topical Expertise and/or Interests (including practical/professional experience):
  • U.S. environmental policy / regulation / law
  • international environmental policy/regulation/law
  • environmental or climate justice
  • environmental governance (at any level)
  • regional urban and/or rural planning
  • professional / practical / lived experience in any of the above areas

    This position is covered by the SEIU. All bargaining unit faculty members shall be covered by the collective bargaining agreement between Ithaca College and Services Employees International Union, Local 200 United. Part time or adjunct bargaining unit employees are all part-time faculty employed by Ithaca College at its Ithaca, New York campus including but not limited to faculty in the titles of Lecturer or Adjunct. Successful candidates will be required to attend an orientation session to meet with union leadership prior to their first day.

    Hiring rate: $1,812.03 per credit hour.
