Position description
Part time non-tenure track lectureships with the Making of the Modern World Writing Program, Eleanor Roosevelt College, UC San Diego, will be available for the 2022-2023 academic year (if needed, applicants may be considered for the current 2021-22 academic year). Appointments vary from one to three quarters. Instructors will teach one (or more) of the lower or upper division courses.

Teaching evaluations may be requested if the applicant is selected as a top candidate

For this Transition Year only, we will be using AP Recruit to review current/internal appointees and also collect applicants. This process was created to streamline these efforts as the campus transitions to the new process for Unit 18 Lecturers.

Eleanor Roosevelt College focuses on international understanding and engagement and its students complete a core general education sequence called the Making of the Modern World, among other GenEd requirements. The Making of the Modern World (MMW) program is an academic unit housed within Eleanor Roosevelt College. As the general education course sequence for ERC, MMW provides an interdisciplinary overview of the world from the emergence of the human species to the present.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
-Ph.D. in history, philosophy, literature or related field (required at time of application)
-Successful experience teaching experience teaching world history at the university level
-Successful experience working in a collaborative teaching environment, including with graduate students and academic or administrative staff
-Demonstrated commitment to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in an academic setting
