The Maintenance Project Manager assists the Assistant Director of
Operations and Maintenance by being the primary point of contact
for small projects completed in house by Facility Services. This
position coordinates the estimating, scheduling, sourcing of
non-standard material and other services required to complete in
house projects in a timely, and competitively in cost ensuring
quality of work and regular contact with stakeholders regarding
project progress, and any other pertinent information.
The Maintenance Project Manager coordinates the Facilities Response
for the needs of snow removal on campus, in addition to
coordinating the staffing requirements to facilitate calls from the
after-hours call service, during holiday closures, etc. The
Maintenance Project Manager will also coordinate all Damage Claims
in assistance with Contracts, Purchasing and Property Liability to
ensure all claimable events on the Mountain Campus are completed
timely and risks are effectively mitigated.
Project Management - 35%
- Cost estimating
- Coordinating external resources
- Monitoring departmental budgets
- Providing status and funding audits to ensure projects are
completed timely and on/underexpected budget allocation.
Program Development - 30%
- Maintains ‘on call' program to ensure appropriate staff are
available to respond to incidents.
- Regularly reports out the schedule to NAU Work Control
- Coordinates with campus stakeholders to meet the needs of snow
removal on campus.
- Prioritizes areas of campus for snow removal (ADA, Housing,
Dining, Academic, Events, etc) and ensures removal efforts are
coordinated as best possible to reduce budget impacts.
- Coordinates with campus stakeholders for campus events
including but not limited to: welcome week, homecoming,
commencement, etc. to ensure the event needs are met
Data Preparation- 25%
- Coordinates greater university maintenance schedule for review
from administration, to include but not limited to: window systems
and glazing, condition assessments, building envelope studies,
material conditions, hardscape review and prepares the data based

- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in related field; AND,
- Demonstrated organizational skills; 1-2 years of relevant
- Any combination of relevant education and experience may be
substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year
- Master's degree in related field.
- Project management certification.
- LEED accredited professional.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of construction and facility planning
- Knowledge of architectural and engineering principles,
practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of construction design standards, and Federal, State,
and local laws, rules, regulations, and codes.
- Knowledge of Arizona Board of Regents design and construction
- Knowledge of project budgeting, cost estimating of
construction, escalation factors, and market trends.
- Records maintenance.
- Budget preparation and forecasting.
- Coordination of activities, evaluating data, and establishing
- Engineering and mathematical calculations and computer
- Computer skills needed for problem solving, design, budgeting
and record keeping.
- Communicates effectively.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships.
- Balances competing priorities.
- Reads and interprets complex plans, specifications, blueprints,
and schematic drawings, and assesses them with construction
- Promotes a diverse, inclusive environment.

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive
position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona
University requires satisfactory results for the following: a
criminal background investigation, employment history
investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and

crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the
Fire Safety Report
is combined with the Annual
Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this
campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire
safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing
and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. If you

Salary range begins at $54,779. Annual salary commensurate with
candidate's qualifications and related experience.
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair
Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or
compensatory time for additional time worked.
This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent

. Classified Staff
employees are in a probationary status for their first six months
at NAU. NAU is a tobacco and smoke-free campus. Employees offered a

pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date.
Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in
