The School of Health Sciences at Lasell University in Newton, Massachusetts seeks a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and collaborative individual to assume the responsibilities of Program Chair, Forensic Science and Science for a Fall 2022 appointment. More senior rank will be considered based on experience and other credentials. The successful candidate will join our growing undergraduate and graduate sciences programs in the dynamic School of Health Sciences, established in 2018.

Our recently opened a state-of-the-art Science and Technology Center offers specialized laboratories including 4 science labs, exercise physiology lab, computer lab, health profession clinic, multipurpose classrooms, 29 faculty offices, and specialized study rooms.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include specific program-related functions (e.g., accreditation, placement testing, external reporting) associated with a pending FEPAC accredited program, and collaborating with the Dean to create, maintain, and engage advisory boards as well as teaching courses in forensic science and science. Additional responsibilities will include leading and managing science related majors within the School of Health Sciences. The role of program chair is an annual assignment carrying a 3-credit teaching load reduction each term.

Successful candidates will demonstrate an avid interest in utilizing a project-focused approach to teaching. Our growing undergraduate and graduate programs are looking to enhance and diversify offerings. The successful candidate will have the ability to work both within and beyond program specific needs to shape the on-going development of the FEPAC accredited forensic science curriculum currently pending approval

Faculty in all disciplines at Lasell may have the opportunity to teach in our Honors Program as well as the Core Curriculum, which could include teaching First Year Seminar, a Knowledge Perspective course in one of four areas, a sophomore multidisciplinary course, or a section of the junior Ethics Experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence and enthusiasm in teaching and student advocacy; commitment to productivity and professional development; and active participation in department and college service that includes but is not limited to faculty standing committee work and academic advising.

Qualifications
  • PhD in a related field. The selected candidate must also have a Master's Degree or higher in Forensic Science, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Biology
  • Prior college teaching experience preferred
  • Skillful in attracting, retaining and graduating new students
  • Professional experience in forensic science analysis with a reputable crime laboratory and experience with a program accredited by the AAFS Forensic Science Education Programs Accreditation Committee (FEPAC) is strongly preferred
  • Serve as a research advisor for undergraduate students
  • Ability to provide leadership to a growing program
