University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We're responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary

Temporary, “non-exempt”, benefited position through June 30, 2023 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).

Salary: $3,800.00 per month.

Location: CSUSB- San Bernardino and Palm Desert Campuses

Program Description:

The CSUSB College Corps will provide 75 college students, annually, with service opportunities in critical issue areas such as climate action, K-12 education, and COVID-19 recovery. Students who complete a year of service will receive up to $10,000 while gaining valuable experience serving in their communities. CSUSB is one of 45 inaugural higher education institutions participating in this service-based college opportunity program designed to help create debt-free college pathways for low-income students who commit to serve.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week. Schedule to be arranged, but typically, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm though some nights, weekend work may be required. Incumbent must be able to participate in remote or on campus work depending on the directives from the CSUSB campus.

This position will remain open until filled. Applications will be reviewed beginning April 20, 2022.

Typical Activities

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the Marketing and Communications Specialist will work independently and in conjunction with program staff to provide comprehensive communications program support to as follows:

Develop and manage all aspects of the program's communications, marketing and media campaigns.

Develop newsletters and other communication strategies.

Proofread and edit all correspondence.

Build and manage the program's social media profiles and presence.

Create shareable content appropriate for specific networks.

Monitor and engage in relevant social discussions about our program.

Run regular social campaigns and track their success (e.g., Twitter chats, LinkedIn discussions, etc.).

Drive consistent, relevant traffic and leads from our social network presence.

Connect with media outlets and journalists to place stories about program news and other initiatives.

Create content regularly to grow the program's footprint (press releases, corporate announcements, and creative content).

Collaborate with prominent members of the company, to craft press releases and thought leadership columns.

Support our website design and content marketing (blog, social media assets, and more).

Help bring new ideas for design and content creation to the team

Scope and create templates for our team to be more efficient in their posting on social media, email, and other channels.

Manage other design needs such as presentations, signage, and collateral as needed.

Assist with the development and updates to the handbooks, manuals, and other documents.

Take videos, photographs, and audio of program events.

Travel to school sites and program events required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree

    Experience: At least two years of experience in a closely related field.

    Additional Qualifications: Applicants must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; Applicants must possess the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information, along with the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people, exercise sound judgement, determine priorities, complete assigned projects in a timely manner and work well under tight deadline' Applicants must possess the following critical strengths including but not limited to: reliability, attention to detail, and strong self-initiative.

  • Preferred Qualifications

    Working knowledge of techniques, materials and equipment used in the production of instructional media and related communication assignments; Working knowledge of full range of production techniques including sound recording, graphics, television, photography, videotaping, lighting, editing methods and equipment; Ability to learn techniques in the development of television, film, radio or multimedia productions; Photography skills such as film speed, light, and color requirements; Ability to use and maintain studio, camera and related equipment.; Solid writing and editing skills, including a strong foundation in English grammar;

    CSU policy requires all faculty, staff and students (on or off campus) to be immunized (i.e. vaccinated) against the virus that causes COVID-19.

    As part of the campus community, CSUSB requires all UEC employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or present a medical or religious exemption and any appropriate back up documentation. Fully vaccinated is defined as having the last immunization shot at least 14 days prior to the date being evaluated. Current and new employees of UEC are required to adhere to this policy by September 20, 2021 and remain in adherence after that date.
