The APA-accredited Counseling Psychology training program emphasizes a scientist –practitioner model of training. Continuously accredited by the APA since 1953 and consistently ranked as one of the top Counseling Psychology programs in the country, we offer the M.Ed. (in school counseling, career counseling, and a dual degree Master’s program with NTNU in Taiwan) as well as the Ph.D. degree. We also have successful online programs including the Masters and Educational Specialist in Mental Health Practices in the Schools, M.Ed. in School Counseling, M.Ed. in Positive Coaching and Athletic Leadership, and certificates in Positive Psychology and Multicultural Education. We have international exchange programs with National Taiwan Normal University and Beijing Normal University and host international scholars (doctoral students and faculty at international universities) for short-term visits (1 semester, 1 year). The successful candidate will join a vibrant team of 7 core faculty (5 tenure-track and 2 non-tenure-track faculty). Our doctoral students are highly diverse with over 65% identifying as racial ethnic minority, international, or LGBT individuals. The program is affiliated with the Missouri Prevention Science Institute, the MU Counseling Center , as well as the MU Career Center and has an award-winning national and international reputation in multicultural and cross-cultural work.
The successful candidate will have a strong research agenda that will enhance our existing expertise in multicultural counseling, vocational psychology, STEM career development, racial & ethnic minority psychology, gender identity, sexual orientation and school/youth mental health. The candidate would pursue their own line of scholarly research and build on existing track record and potential for securing external research funding. In addition, the new hire could complement our existing research programs to build on the profile of research related to broader needs in the field, including social justice, assessment, and psychological intervention research.
