Job Description

The Sinclair School of Nursing is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide care to patients with chronic and acute wounds. The position exists to serve in a clinical and faculty capacity for the Sinclair School of Nursing. This position works in collaboration with MU Department of Surgery in the Outpatient Wound Management Clinic.

Responsibilities include the following:
  • Provide excellent care to patient with chronic and acute wound care needs.
  • Work independently and in collaboration with other health care professionals to provide care in the outpatient setting to patients with chronic and acute wounds.
  • Communicate with team members about changes in patients’ clinical conditions, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
  • Respond quickly and accurately to changes in conditions.
  • Work independently and in collaboration with health care professionals to provide care in the outpatient setting.
  • Perform treatments and interventions; conduct teaching and counseling of patients and families; and facilitate clinical research.
  • Serve as a clinical preceptor for students.
This is a part-time position; 30 standard hours of work per week; .75 FTE; benefit eligible


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree by the time of appointment
  • Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program by the time of appointment
  • Licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Missouri and must be granted “Document of Recognition” as a certified nurse practitioner from the Missouri State Board of Nursing by the time of appointment
Candidates will be evaluated on:
  • May possess a specialty certificate by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the Pediatric Certification Nursing Board (PCNB), and the National Certification Corporation (NCC).
  • Two years’ experience in wound care
  • Experience in Wound Management / Surgery / Primary Care / Infectious Disease / Diabetes is desired. Certification or qualification to become certified as a Wound Care Nurse-Advanced Practice (CWCN-AP)
