Job Summary
The Department of Anthropology, Sociology and Criminology at Troy University (https://www.troy.edu/academics/colleges-schools/college-arts-sciences/departments/social-science/) invites applications for a full-time, Lecturer of criminology and criminal justice anticipated to start in August 2022. We are a friendly and collaborative department which offers a B.S and M.S. in Criminal Justice as well as a Criminology concentration in our M.S. in Social Sciences program. We are looking for a new colleague in criminal justice or criminology that is interested in being part of a growing department. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with a specialization in policing, corrections or parole. A candidate with job experience in a federal agency is a plus. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to teach undergraduate and possibly graduate courses in criminal justice and criminology. The primary responsibilities of this position are to teach four courses per semester, student advising as well as service to the university, college department & community. Full participation in departmental activities is expected as well as serving on committees, advising and mentoring students, and other duties. A syllabus of choice should be placed in the “Other document” section of the application.
Minimum Qualifications
- S. or M.A. in Criminal Justice, Criminology or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution
- Ability to teach both face-to-face as well as in online environments
