Job Summary:

The Risk and Insurance Department in the Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin, Madison seeks tenure-track faculty at all ranks to join our vibrant and cross-disciplinary department. We are looking for scholars whose research and teaching can help shape how business and society assess, manage and finance risk. We are open to a wide range of research agendas and methodological approaches within the field of risk and insurance. Candidates with research agendas related to health insurance markets, the management of climate change and catastrophe risk, or digital transformations in the risk management and insurance industries will be given special priority. Applicants will be expected to create and maintain a strong program of research, provide classroom and individual instruction for undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students, and contribute to the intellectual and academic life of the department. University and professional service will be expected as appropriate.

The Risk and Insurance Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is one of the oldest such programs in the country, dating back to the 1930s. Our faculty come from a range of fields, including economics, risk management and insurance, actuarial science, and statistics. We offer undergraduate majors in actuarial science and risk management and insurance, which are both consistently ranked among the best in the world. Our faculty also teach and play important roles in the school's business analytics programs, including the rapidly expanding Masters of Science in Business Analytics program, and our recently redesigned Professional MBA program. We are also proud to be part of a great university with excellent resources available to both faculty and students. Our faculty in particular have strong connections and collaborations with faculty throughout campus in departments such as economics, public policy, population health and statistics. Job Duties:
- Create and maintain a strong program of research
- Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in the Wisconsin School of Business
- Provide classroom and individual instruction for undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students
- Contribute to the intellectual and academic life of the department. University and community service will be expected as appropriate.

Education:

Required
Ph.D. in economics, finance, risk management and insurance, actuarial science, or a related field is required.

Qualifications:

Well qualified applicants will have demonstrated high quality research with publications in top tier journals, and will have demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching.

Candidates for tenure rank will possess academic credentials to qualify for a tenured faculty appointment at UW-Madison.
