The Chancellor and Governing Board of the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) invite applications and nominations for the position of Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost (“EVC/Provost”), MCCCD’s second highest ranking executive and the Chief Academic Officer. The EVC/Provost assumes direct oversight and strategic responsibility for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Institutional Effectiveness, ensuring programming aligns with the District’s academic mission and goals. In addition, the EVC/Provost provides oversight for core business functions, including Information Technology, Human Resources, Workforce Education, Enterprise Performance, and Finance, ensuring operational success.

 

The Maricopa County Community College District is one of the nation’s largest and most innovative community college systems. Popularly known as the Maricopa Community Colleges, MCCCD is comprised of 10 individually accredited colleges and 31 satellite locations serving approximately 100,000 students annually and employing over 10,000 faculty and staff. Since its founding in 1962, the Maricopa Community Colleges system has continued to be an essential resource for local communities in the Greater Phoenix Metro Area and a gateway to affordable higher education, particularly for disadvantaged, diverse, and first-generation students. It offers over 600 associate degree and certificate programs and will begin offering baccalaureate degrees in the Fall 2023 semester.

 

The EVC/Provost champions a healthy organizational culture and provides leadership for a comprehensive system of shared governance, including direct responsibility for the Vice President Councils, the Faculty Executive Council, Employee Representation, and the Adjunct Faculty Employee Group. Ultimately, the EVC/Provost ensures that MCCCD continues to provide high-quality education and adapts to the changing needs of our students by being a high-performing and results-driven organization following sound enterprise performance management.

 

Minimum requirements include: An earned doctorate from an accredited college or university and at least five (5) years of demonstrated executive leadership experience advancing the organization’s mission, and professional achievement in higher education demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, collaboration, shared governance, and operational efficiency and effectiveness.
