Salary:

Minimum $48,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications

Job Summary:

This position is a part of the Quality Management Team charged with support of the WVDL Quality Management System. This position supports the development, implementation, maintenance, evaluation and continuous improvement of the Quality System in order to maintain compliance with mandated requirements and service to WVDL clients. This person in this position will provide program leadership and guidance to staff throughout WVDL, promote effective cross-functional collaboration and support a culture of quality throughout the organization. The person in this position will have responsibilities related to document control, equipment management, audits, non-conformances and will participate in weekly Quality Management Team meetings and monthly Quality Team meetings.This position will report to the WVDL Quality Manager.

This position will support and encourage the Quality Management System throughout WVDL, participate in weekly Quality Management Team meetings for planning and review of activities related to evaluate continuous improvement of the WVDL Quality Management System, participate in monthly Quality Team meeting and act as a liaison between the Quality Manager, Quality Team, Section Heads, Supervisors and employees to share information and implement quality program related activities, actively participate in the annual Management Review of the Quality System, act as Document Controller for controlled documents including SOPs, forms, and procedure resources as assigned, support equipment management including the setup and archival of equipment records and facilitation of lab wide maintenance and calibration related activities, assist the Quality Manager in training employees in quality principles through lab-wide, small group and one-on-one sessions, assist in quality related activities as part of new employee set up, orientation, staff changes and termination of staff, participate in all aspects of internal and external auditing events as assigned, including the AAVLD accreditation site visit, facilitate system level quality programs as assigned, review, revise shared standard operating procedures, as assigned.

This position will also acknowledge documents, perform document reviews, and write or revise documents as assigned, complete and acknowledge training as required, perform laboratory equipment duties such as calibration, preventative maintenance, cleaning and function checks and associated documentation as assigned, initiate non-conformances, participate in CAR/PAR activities and problem solve as part of the improvement process, complete quality control activities and maintain records for duties assigned.

Responsibilities:

Compiles and classifies reports, issues notifications, assists with creation and maintenance of manuals and public information; and manages unit administrative documents in support of a specific compliance program to ensure compliance with institutional rules and or laws/regulations.
  • 20% Collects, compiles, and organizes reports for a defined compliance program and communicates data to internal and external stakeholders when appropriate
  • 20% Issues compliance notifications and provides education and resources to inquiring entities
  • 40% Assists with the creation and the maintenance of manuals, communication materials, and other compliance materials in accordance with established laws and regulations
  • 20% WVDL Quality Coordinator
Tasks:
  • Act as Document Controller for documents including SOPs, forms, and cross-functional documents, as assigned.
  • Assist in evaluation, determination and implementation of new programs and modification of existing programs to
    improve the Quality Management System.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in training employees in quality principles through lab-wide, small group and one-on-one
    sessions.
  • Comply with WVDL safety and quality requirements (see Quality and Safety manuals).
  • Participate in Quality Management Team meetings.
  • Participate in Quality Team meetings and act as a liaison between the Quality Assurance Manager, Quality Team,
    Section Heads, and employees to share information and implement quality program related activities.
  • Participate in all aspects of internal and external auditing events as necessary, including the AAVLD accreditation
    site visit.
  • Participate in the annual Management Review of the Quality System.
  • Support equipment management including equipment records and facilitation of lab wide equipment programs
    including maintenance and calibration related activities.
  • Support, model and encourage the Quality Management System throughout WVDL.

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree
Bachelor's degree in life science or business related field.

Qualifications:

2 years of quality program experience including advanced knowledge of and experience with the principles of quality assurance, quality control and quality improvement in a professional setting is highly preferred. Experience working with a LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and quality management software, and knowledge of a laboratory setting is preferred but not required.

Successful candidates will have experience working with sensitive information, have effective organizational skills, be able to manage shifting priorities, and be able to manage difficult situations between internal and external stakeholders. Successful candidates will also have excellent written and oral communications skills and possess proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation programs.
