Position Summary

The Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) offers two virtual summer experiences: the Health Science Summer Camp and the Health Science Summer Bridge Program. These programs assist students with healthcare exploration and building fundamental skills that prepare them for college coursework and a career. The HCOP Non-Credit Instructor plays an essential role in helping students to connect concepts with real world applications. This position helps students navigate potential course obstacles and gain an understanding of how classroom content is applied directly to the health field.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


Instruction & Program Support

Assists in developing, designing, and leading program components that result in positive academic outcomes for HCOP participants. Provides engaging, ongoing opportunities for HCOP participants to experience success through academic activities. Develops and maintains a safe, supportive learning environment to achieve positive results. Builds strong, positive relationships with HCOP participants. Creates and maintains discussions for program and participant improvement. Provides student group management while facilitating workshops. Provides mentoring to HCOP Summer Camp participants and incoming freshmen participating in the HCOP Summer Bridge Program.

Customer Service & Classroom Support


Reports to site on time and prepared as directed. Assists with needs of the HCOP Health Science Summer Camp and the HCOP Health Science Summer Bridge Program. Models professional behavior with participants, parents, and staff. Handles disruptive behavior with respect, follows guidelines, processes and procedures, and reports any issues to the HCOP Project Coordinator. Monitors participant participation and attendance.

Working Conditions

Normal office working conditions. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to business offices.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in field of discipline. One (1) year of clinical experience. MLS/MLT (ASCP) or MLT (ASCP) certification. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
