Job Description

The Department of English Language and Literature in the College of Arts and Science at GUST invites applicants for for a full-time faculty position in Composition/Rhetoric/Academic Writing starting in Fall 2022 or Spring 2023. The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in Composition/Rhetoric/Academic Writing with additional evidence of credential and experience in TESOL and provide evidence of continuous current professional activity including publications in academic journals. Preference will be given to candidates with the rank of Assistant Professor however, those who qualify for appointment at higher ranks are also encouraged to apply. The State of Kuwait does not recognize degrees from online universities.

The successful candidate will teach Academic English and Freshman Composition to undergraduate students. The teaching load will be split between the three courses based on the needs of the Department. In addition to teaching and service, it is expected to maintain an increasingly significant professional and/or scholarly practice

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have completed a PhD in Composition/Rhetoric/Academic Writing from a reputable North American (U.S. or Canada) or European university with at least three years of teaching experience after the doctoral degree. He/she should have a strong commitment to quality teaching, and be active in research. The ideal candidate must be ambitious, self-motivated, hard-working, with the ability to work both individually and as part of a team. Candidates should use technology in all aspects of their teaching and possess experience using a variety of online platforms and teaching tools, implement current teaching and assessment of student learning practices, foster a successful learning environment for all students. Candidates should possess the ability to actively participate in faculty committees and are expected to publish high-quality research in leading peer-reviewed journals.
