The Department of Architecture invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Architecture to begin August 2022. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. or Master’s in Architecture, teaching experience, professional experience in the USA and be familiar with the American Licensure Standards and AIA licensing process.  The candidate must have specialization in architectural design, building systems design, building construction, technology, and management. The successful candidate will be expected to be active in research in his/her fields of interests, incorporate high-impact educational practices in teaching, advise undergraduate students, and provide service to the department, university, and community. The successful candidate for the position is expected to teach courses for both Architecture and Interior Design programs.

The application package should include a detailed CV, a detailed description of teaching philosophy including courses taught and summary of the student feedback, in addition to a research statement. Applicants must submit also a cover letter that describes extent of experience with the US education system, professional practice, and accrediting bodies such as NAAB or CIDA.  

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Teaching Architecture and Interior Design courses
  • Providing guidance to students concerning AIA licensing
  • Participating in departmental, school, and university committees and activities
  • Advising and mentoring students 
  • Pursuing research activities and outreach activities  

 Required Qualifications:

  • D. or Master’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited institution of higher education 
  • University teaching experience
  • Professional experience as an architect in the USA
  • Effective communication skills
  • Commitment to excellence scholarly activities and teaching, including the use of high-impact educational practices
  • Interest and experience in working effectively with a diverse student population 
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines

The Department of Architecture at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor position in Interior Design program to begin August 2022. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in Interior Design, professional and teaching experience. Ph.D./Master in Interior Design candidates must have specialization in Interior Design communication media, lighting design media and design for wellbeing. The successful candidate will be expected to be active in research in his/her fields of interests, incorporate high-impact educational practices in teaching, advise undergraduate students, and provide service to the department, university, and community. The successful candidate in Interior Design is expected to teach Interior Design courses as well as Department (Architecture) required courses.
