Established in 1887 as a school for the education of American

distinctly diverse student body and encourages inclusion and
appreciation of the values of all people. Located in the heart of
Pembroke, N.C., UNCP boasts an enrollment of 8,200 in 41
undergraduate and 18 graduate programs and offers a personalized
learning environment where faculty and staff are dedicated to
engaged scholarship, high academic standards, creative activity and
public service. Spread over 281 acres, the campus offers a sense of
community and belonging-–a place where faculty and staff feel
supported, take pride in the university’s mission, and are devoted
to excellence in teaching, learning and research, and to developing
leaders who make a difference in their communities.
The UNCP Department of History is seeking qualified
applicants for the position of Social Studies Education Instructor
to teach social studies education courses as part of the Educator
Preparation Program for middle grades and high school social
studies. Responsibilities would include: instructor of record,

future teachers to understand their professional responsibilities,
training teacher candidates in inquiry-based teaching and learning
as aligned to the North Carolina 2021 Social Studies Standards, and
possible supervision of field experience. The instructor would also
be responsible for reporting student performance data, including
dispositions assessment, to the Social Studies Education Program
Coordinator.
Interested applicants should submit an online application, cover
letter, curriculum vitae, and unofficial or official graduate
transcripts through the UNCP Online Employment System

middle/secondary unit plan or a syllabus for an undergraduate
social studies methods course. SSE methods courses can be
taught in the evenings, so qualified current middle/secondary
Social Studies teachers are encouraged to apply.
