University of Maryland, Baltimore, School of Dentistry invites applicants for a full-time clinical faculty position (open rank) in the AEGD, Department of General Dentistry. Energetic applicants with a positive attitude towards teaching and a desire to develop and advance in a career in dental education are preferred.

The AEGD clinical faculty's responsibilities will be to provide clinical teaching to residents, provide didactic teaching and seminars for the program, one day per week of faculty practice, participate in scholarly activity and service to the organization. Individuals with dental specialty training in Prosthodontics and Periodontics and board certification as well as PhD degrees are encouraged to apply.

Specific duties include:
  • Supervise, manage, monitor, and mentor AEGD residents as they develop and work through the clinical educational goals of the program, including patient treatment plans, the application and integration of knowledge, skills, and values in delivering general dental care and treatment to patients of all ages.
  • Participate in committees, faculty governance, professional societies and associations, community events, and delivery of continuing education.
  • Establish and maintain scholarly and/or research activity in area of expertise, at level consistent with scheduled annual workload.
  • Review and approve resident treatment plans, progress notes, and coordination of specialist care.
  • Assist in developing and coordinating the AEGD clinic educational experience in collaboration with Program Director.
  • Participate in the resident admissions process.
  • Provide direct patient care in the AEGD clinics that support community service, efficient clinic operations, student/resident education, or when in the patient's best interest.
  • Commitment to be a team player in planning, identifying, and resolving problems.
Qualifications :

Required Qualifications:
  • DMD, DDS from a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accredited institution or foreign equivalent dental degree.
  • Eligibilie to work in the United States
  • Eligibilie to obtain a full or limited dental license in Maryland
  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and economically diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certificate from a CODA-accredited General Practice Residency in Dentistry Program, Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency Program, or Armed Forces Comprehensive Dentistry Residency Program.
  • Experience teaching in an accredited AEGD/ GPR program or a U.S. Armed Forces equivalent program.
  • Experience restoring single-tooth edentulism using implants and clinical experience with digital dentistry applications and workflow to include intraoral image acquisition and CAD/CAM of single-tooth restorations.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in private practice or other facilities where advanced general dentistry techniques were performed (may include time in residency training).
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position will be available until filled.
