POSITION SUMMARY :
The call center is the first point of contact for all students,
employees, faculty and the public for Lone Star College. The call
center provides assistance to callers regarding all aspects of the
college system. The call center assists callers in researching the
Police Department and other departments/divisions within the system
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Manages incoming calls on several lines simultaneously, using a
multi-line, computerized Call Manager phone system
Provides professional and prompt service to connect callers
with destination phone users, internally and externally, using
excellent customer service and phone etiquette
Provides general information regarding campus and programs
using printed and electronic reference materials
Provides information regarding deadlines, dates, schedules and
Provides information regarding admissions, test scores,
transcripts, class availability, and restrictions
Accesses information from various websites and databases in
order to respond appropriately to inquiries
Enters call log information into spreadsheets and maintains
current directory listings
Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Skilled in usin g a multi-line telephone system
- Excellent verbal a nd written communication skills
- Skilled in communicating effectively with individuals from
diverse socio -economic backgrounds

PHYSICAL ABILITIES :
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to
do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending;
carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or
driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to
perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS :
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a
Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to
carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal
exposure to safety hazards
- High school diploma or GED
Hourly Pay Rate is $12.50
